Problems with license server
Hi,
we got several licenses and tried to setup a license server with the "Mentor Graphics Installation" and the "LMTOOLS" Software. When we checked the license server status we get the following error message:
Within the Mentor Graphics Installation Programm we got another error message. The Server couldn't restart while importing a license file.

Thanks for the response. That's unfortunate, as we were hoping to use that to deal with the issue of PADS Logic often not releasing a checkout of the viewdraw040 license when exiting the application. This leaves a license checked out even though the application is not running. The only thing that we've been able to do to deal with this is to restart the license server (we use a network license).

You can try setting TIMEOUTALL 900 in your options file. This may alleviate the problem of licenses not getting checked back in after the application is closed. What is not supported in PADS is an idle state in the application triggering a license check in. If an application is closed and there are no network connectivity issues at the time, the licenses should be checked in.
Try the TIMEOUTALL setting. I may at least force them to be checked in after 15 min of closing the application.

I could try that. When I had first read the documentation on the TIMEOUT and TIMEOUTALL options, it said for TIMEOUTALL "Same as TIMEOUT, but applies to all features.", so I didn't expect it to work differently from TIMEOUT. If TIMEOUT is not supported in PADS, why would TIMEOUTALL be supported?

In short, if PADS is not running, it's no longer communicating with the license server. The license server will check TIMEOUT or TIMEOUTALL to determine when it should check in licenses from clients that are no longer active.
The standard request for TIMEOUT usually relates to when an application is running but has become "idle". We don't have an idle state in PADS so the connection to the server is always active when the application is running. Sorry if my previous response was confusing.

DX Designer discreet comp. value
The discreet components symbol that I downloaded from PartQuest is showing the value in farads instead of uf eg. 0.0000047 farad instead of 4.7uf. The same thing with the resistor value 5600 Ohm instead of 5.6K. Is there anyway to change this globally in DataBook or is there any setting I should use when importing from PartQuest?

In Databook, Right mouse button and configure...
On the capacitor component Library, look for the Value or VALUE property. Right mouse button on Magnitude and change to automatic.
Then in the "Valid Magnitute" field, select your desired suffixes.
Then do the same for the Resistor library.

Error in evaluation guide
I'm working on the Xpedition Evaluation Guide and am currently on page 156 where the steps are as follows:
❶ Open Xpedition xPCB Layout.
❷ Select File > Open, then browse to
C:\Xpedition_Evaluation\Lesson2\PCB , then double‐click
CORPORATE.pcb.
❸ Select Setup > Setup Parameters...
When I execute step 3, I get a pop up error saying:
"The test point cellname stored in the JobPrefsDB ('ICT_TP_SMD_030RD_NSP'), does not exist in the CellDB for this job."
Any idea how I can solve this error?

Re: Problems with license server
Hello Ferhat,
Please examine your license file and make sure that the host ID on the SERVER line matches that of the machine. Edit the license file like so: replace the string 'put_server_name_here' with the name of the license server machine. Then on the DAEMON line replace the string 'path_to_mgcld' with the location of the vendor daemon, mgcld.exe.
Stop and restart the license service in Lmtools>Start/Stop/Reread tab.
If this does not clear up the problem, please open a service request.

Opening the schematics with the DxDesigner tool issue
Hi,
I installed the Mentor DxDesigner tool in my new laptop and assigned the network tool license correctly.
I am able to open the DxDesigner mentor tool correctly from the Start/All programs/Mentor graphics SDD/Design entry/Dxdesigner.
I am getting the error message as attachment while creating new project or existing project.
Please let us know how to resolve this issue?

DMS VX1.2 Part Status Restriction
Hi All,
I am looking for an option to restrict some group of users to update the part status in DMS.
We need to restrict DMS User & DMS librarian to change the part from D to A or X, but they should have permission to change all other fields the component.

eDXD view control
Is there any way of controlling the view size in eDXD when selecting a part in xPCB? Appreciate that you want to 'find' the component, but without resizing around the symbol in eDXD would surely be better - leaving at full view would be handy, but still selected.

finally we got the license server running, thanks for your help.
We followed the instuctions in the videos at Configuring a Mentor Graphics License Server on Windows (Video).
When we open the Log File of the LMTOOLS we get this text, are those red marked lines errors? If yes how can we solve them?
Also in the Pcls_ok program we cant find our installed licenses.

Unfortunately the code is not helpful, because I already wrote the program in VBS, VB and in C#.
Everything works, but C++.
Please find my little C++ project attached.
It works until I try to access the IVdComp object.
At least you can use it as a template for other Viewdraw programs.
Possibly you get my problem fixed, that would be great.
